The Colour Poetry series are based on Kristins early memories as this quote of Kristin so nicely put it «Painting with colour on a white paper is like writing a poem or composing a piece of music - I’m composing colour poetry»

Kristin like to weave the colours into poetic colour-moods using a lyrical palette of memories. Her lifelong passion with colour unfolds itself in these artworks. She has colourful memories from early childhood and she perceive much of her surroundings through colour and can experience nature as abstract imagery. In Kristins experience the specifics of a memory can fade but that the colours keep. It’s like her senses has been and still is open and perceptive to polychromatic impressions, impressions that stay with her as colourful moods.

Beautiful colours, vibrant or soothing, surprising and fun, all of them wherever they appear continue to fascinate and inspire her. Kristin is after moods that has a connection to her past, and think that memories have passed the test of time, they represent an essence or a tiny time capsule. Incarnating them on paper is a way to see them with a new perception and from a very different place in her life.

But its important for Kristin to rework the piece so it will become an artwork in its own right and it has to give something to the here and now.

In this series I rework watercolour paintings with Dry pastels to enhance colours, adding contrasts, depts and dynamics. The two mediums work well together, creating Colour Poetry.
